Fed Chair. Bernanke: Another Recession Unlikey

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke delivered his semi-annual report on monetary policy this week. During his testimony before the Senate Banking Committee, Bernanke speculated that the economy was unlikely to go through another recession, though unemployment levels may remain high at least through 2012. The following day, he advised the members of the House Financial Services Committee to devise a long-term plan to curtail budget deficits while relying on stimulus spending to keep the economy stable in the interim.
