Maynard Cooke Horiuchi’s father was a navy captain stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked on December 7, 1941. In this oral history for "Densho: The Japanese American Legacy Project," she recalls how she came to marry Lucius Horiuchi, a Japanese-American foreign service officer whose family had been forcibly relocated to an internment camp at the outset of World War II.

In "Almost a Miracle," colonial and revolutionary war scholar John Ferling presents a 700 page, single-volume account of the American Revolution. He argues that General George Washington was correct in his statement that an American victory was "little short of a standing miracle." He appeared at the Pritzker Military Library in Chicago, IL.

The 150th anniversary of the Dred Scott decision was marked by a panel discussion held during the Spring 2007 meeting of the National Association of Attorneys General. Lynne Jackson, the great-great-granddaughter of Dred Scott, spoke about the U.S. Supreme Court decision which denied that blacks could become citizens of the United States.
